Welcome to the State Emergency Management Committee (SEMC) website. The SEMC plays a key role in setting the strategic policy framework in Western Australia, including facilitating consultation and coordination between emergency management stakeholders. The SEMC manages the Emergency Management Act 2005 and the Emergency Management Regulations 2006. As indicated in the Emergency Management Act 2005, the Committee's functions include to: Advise the Minister on emergency management and the preparedness of the State to combat emergenciesProvide direction, advise and support public authorities, industry, commerce and the community to plan and prepare for efficient emergency managementProvide a forum for community coordination to ensure the effects of emergencies are minimisedProvide a forum for the development of communitywide information systems to improve communications during emergenciesDevelop and coordinate risk management strategies to assess community vulnerability to emergencies SEMC Membership includes representatives appointed by the Minister for Emergency Services from those organisations that are essential to the State's emergency management arrangements.
