​​​​​​​All West Australians Reducing Emergencies (AWARE) Program 2022-23​

Local governments looking to strengthen their Emergency Management arrangements can take advantage of the All West Australians Reducing Emergencies (AWARE) program. 

The AWARE program invests in capacity building and preparedness activities at a local level, through a competitive grant.

Applications for the AWARE grant program are now open and close at 12pm, Friday 10 June 2022.

Projects
The current round of AWARE funding will distribute $200,000 to WA local governments for projects addressing at least one of the following categories:
  • Furthering the emergency risk management process
  • Facilitating capability-based exercises
  • Assistance in reviewing Local Emergency Management Arrangements (LEMA)
  • Delivering emergency management training
  • Hosting or facilitating emergency management events or forums

Eligibility
  • Projects must meet the minimum eligibility requirements (refer to the AWARE Guidelines)
  • Local governments should not have any non-compliant Natural Disaster Risk Reduction (NDRR) or AWARE grants
  • Local governments with non-compliant LEMAs are restricted to projects to develop contemporary and updated LEMA
  • Successful local governments must be willing to sign a funding agreement (refer to the Sample AWARE Funding Agreement)

Local governments are encouraged to collaborate and submit joint applications.
