Section 18 of the
Emergency Management Act requires the SEMC to arrange for the preparation of EM plans as the SEMC considers necessary. These must be consistent with State EM Policy.
The State EM Plan, State Hazard Plans (Westplans), State Support Plans and Local Emergency Management Arrangements (LEMA) support the EM arrangements for the State.
The State EM Plans align with the National EM Plans where applicable.
This State EM Plan is consistent with State EM legislation and the State EM Policy.
State Hazard Plans (Westplans) describe the hazard specific emergency management arrangements.
State Support Plans document the functions and services that support EM arrangements across all-hazards, for example, emergency public information, welfare, animal welfare and health support. These services may be required regardless of the type of hazard that occurs.
The Australian Government plans provide an overview of how National, State, Territory and local governments collectively approach the management of emergencies, including catastrophic emergencies. At the State level, the State Emergency Coordinator (SEC) is responsible for liaising with Emergency Management Australia during an emergency.
