Bushfire Mitigation Activity Fund grant round open

24 May 2018

The Minister for Emergency Services recently announced the first round of the 2018-19 Bushfire Mitigation Activity Fund (MAF).  This grant round is open to all regional Local Governments who have completed their Bushfire Risk Management Plans to the satisfaction of the Office of Bushfire Risk Management.

The MAF will provide funds to proactively treat extreme, very high and high bushfire risks in combination with the progressive rollout of the Bushfire Risk Management Planning framework.  Funds can be used to deliver on-ground physical treatments that can reasonably be completed by the end of the 2018-19 financial year.

Seed money provided to the MAF from the Royalties for Regions program has been specifically allocated to expand the treatment of bushfire risk associated with State held lands located in and around the regional town sites, to further reduce the risks to life and property in these communities.

Funding of $2 million is now available for allocation in the first round of 2018-19 and follows on from the inaugural round announced in February 2018 where $1.478 million was awarded to Local Governments around regional WA.
