CALENDAR UNDER CONSTRUCTION
The State-wide exercise calendar has been designed to increase opportunities for collaboration, share learnings, reduce the duplication of effort and give better visibility to exercising across the State.
Policy now requires Emergency Management Agencies (EMAs) and Local Governments (LGAs) to identify the capabilities they wish to exercise, then develop and submit a 3-year Exercise Schedule to the State Exercise Coordination Team (SECT). The reason a 3-year Exercise Schedule is now required is so agencies and LGAs can apply a progressive planning approach to exercising and align their exercises to a common set of priorities and objectives within the cycle which will allow their exercises to increase in their level of complexity over time. Your Exercise Schedule is simply a plan of exercises that your EMA or LGA intends to conduct during the exercise cycle. Exercise Schedule information will be used to populate the State-wide exercise calendar.
Exercise Schedules can be emailed to the State Exercise Coordination Team here
Initially, the Annual Preparedness Survey (when it is released) will be used to capture basic agency exercise information by including a number of additional questions relating to exercising. This information will then be automatically imported into the Calendar. Once the information is displayed in the calendar, the person identified as being responsible for EM exercises within agencies and Local Governments will be able to add or change dates or details of their exercises to improve accuracy. The SECT will then use the calendar as the mechanism to follow up and acquit proposed exercises with exercise reports.
As the Framework matures, this process will be phased out. In future years, exercise information will be removed from the Capability Survey and submitted through the Exercise Schedules.
